In and Around the Gold Coast Hinterland



352527_queensland_5.jpgThe second most populous city in the state and ranking sixth in the country, Gold Coast are renowned for its sunny subtropical climate, surfing beaches, expansive waterway and canal systems, high-rise apartment buildings that dominated its skyline and active nightlife for surfers. It is situated in the southeast corner of Queensland, to the south of Brisbane which is the state capital.

The city is bordered by a part of the Great Dividing Range or Gold Coast Hinterland. An area that is popular among bush walkers and day-trippers, Gold Coast Hinterland has a 206 square kilometer section of the mountain range that is protected by the Lamington National Park. It is listed as World Heritage are for its outstanding geological features that is displayed around the high number of rare and threatened rainforest species and shield volcanic craters.

Gold Coast Hinterland is made up of the stunning McPherson Range which offers walking trails and amazing scenery. Offering their plenty of walking trails and activities are National Parks are all over the McPherson Range. The Gold Coast Hinterland also has features of wildlife and different species of birds.

Mudgeeraba and Nerang are included in the two main towns of the Gold Coast Hinterland. Mudgeeraba is a country town that is set at the base of the Tallai Hills. The Nerang, on the other hand is a centre of the Hinterland with a strong country style like the Mudgeeraba. The Nerang River is an integral part of the sugar, dairy and cotton industries within the Gold Coast Hinterland.

From Mudgeeraba, you can have a fantastic drive along the Springbrook Road with plenty of fabulous rainforest and scenery to sighsee. Springbrook National Park is the next stop. It is based around Mt. Cougal, Springbrook and Natural Bridge. It covers around 2954 hectares and offers awe inspiring views of cascading waterfalls, crystal clear streams and craggy crops that are popular with both locals and tourist.

If you are hungry and looking for something to eat, Tambourine Mountain is the place. It is a great place to stop since it has nine individual National Parks that you can visit. You can reach Tamborine Mountain if you head west from Nerang or Oxenford towards McPherson Range.

Another pleasurable drive throughout the Hinterland is the Gold Coast Hinterland Wine Trail. There are great wineries and vineyard that you can tour.

Another National Park that you will definitely enjoy visiting is the Lamington National Park which is in the west side of Springbrook National Park. It is home to the Lamington Plateau and has features of amazing rainforest.

Gold Coast Hinterland is a beautiful place to stay and relax. There are number of fabulous restaurant and cafes which offer delicious meals and snacks that tourist will definitely enjoy. They also have several unique craft and art galleries for those who are art enthusiast. There is also market place where you can find just about everything you need from fresh produce, arts, crafts and even trash. Throughout the place, a number of places to stay like camping grounds, guesthouses and lodges are available for tourist to stay at.
